jammin with oatmeal jammys

i'd like to introduce you to my new favorite cookie:
the oatmeal jammy

here's what you need
1 & 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup packed dark brown sugar
1/8 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups old-fashioned oats
jams or preserves (i used blackberry)

here's what you do
1. preheat oven to 350°.
2. mix together flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt. Set aside.
3. beat butter and both sugars until light and fluffy.  then add the eggs, one at a time, mixing well between each one.  mix in vanilla, and gradually add flour mixture, mixing until fully incorporated.  then, add in the oats.
4. scoop dough onto prepared pans, placing them about 2 inches apart.  using your thumb, make a hollow in each cookie.  fill each hollow with jam, maybe a small spoonfull. i used blackberry jam.
5. bake for about 12 minutes, until cookies are fully baked and the edges are golden.

i know, my photos are horrible.
but these yummy treats speak for themselves.

bub-hub still prefers the tried and true oatmeal chocolate chip cookie,
but this is definitely my new favorite.

what type of cookie is your favorite?

lately

lately,
i've been endulging my sweet tooth by baking these.
i've been listening to a lot of this.
i've been reading and taking notes from this.
i've been drinking alot of these.
i've been designing fun invitations like this,
i've been encouraged by this,
and i've been laughing hysterically at this.

what have you been up to lately?

poor sick puppy

my sweet puppy has a terribly case of allergies.
he's been sneezing and scratching like crazy so i finally made a vet appointment.

the vet tech recommended these rubber booties to keep him from scratching.
pretty great alternative to the cone of shame.
i can't even imagine how hard he's been working to get them off.
sorry little man, you can't be trusted.
#scratchattack
i don't know how moms do it.
his sad little puppy eyes are breaking my heart.

o how pinteresting: easter eggs

i love easter.
easter egg hunts,
baking bunny shaped carrot cake,
eating honey glazed ham and mashed potatoes,
and painting ceramic easter eggs
are all traditions that i love.

have you ever painted ceramic eggs?
i think ceramic is the way to go...they never rot! :)
my nana painted ceramic eggs years and years ago and we still have them today.
it's such a fantastic memory to see them each easter season.

and incase you're feeling glitzy...

and i just adore this watercolor version...

or, if you're a washi enthusiast like me...

what is your favorite easter craft?

such a sweet birthday week

this has definitely been a fantastic week.
i've felt so loved and so blessed by my friends and family.
#perfection
and it didn't hurt that i managed to eat some form of cake each day.
#birthdayweekforthewin
one: my mama and i went to tiny boxwoods and enjoyed a beautiful brunch on a beautiful day, and i drank each and every drop of the latte as big as my head.
two: saying no to this puppy face was really tough, but i wasn't going to share my red velvet crave cupcake. worth every bite.
three: bub-hub gave me two pairs of the most beautiful earrings. i'm in love.
four: pasion iced tea is the perfect afternoon treat.
five: i've discovered a love for english muffins. scrambled eggs + bell peppers + whole wheat english muffin is breakfast perfection.

how was your week?

a sweet and sunny day

so far, being twenty-four is pretty fantastic.
my sweet mom came in town to celebrate with me!
we had a yummy brunch at tiny boxwoods,
including a perfect vanilla latte the size of my face,
and enjoyed the beautiful sunshine and cool weather on the patio.
after brunch, we headed to rice village for a little bit of shopping,
and then to crave for a yummy bithday cupcake!
red velvet is a family birthday tradition.
yummmmmmm.
sweet raider used his most intense and most cutest stare down face.
please mom, just one little crumb?
this might have been the one and only time i didn't give in to those big brown eyes.
nothing gets between me and a red velvet crave cupcake.

here's to 24!

today, i turn 24.
eeeeeeekkk!

i'm pretty excited for this one.
i've got pretty big plans and i've decided it's going to be a year full of adventure

i'm working on a 24 in 24 list...
i know i want to be braver,
i want to try new things,
and i want to go on more adventures.
i want to focus on quality, not quantity.
i want to spend more time with my friends and my family,
and i want to grow as an individual and as a wife.

do you have any recommendations for my list of 24 things?

the first 23 years of my life have been pretty great,
i can't see what the Lord has in store for me in year 24! :)

a perfect weekend

have you ever had a perfect weekend?
i definitely did! :)

my birthday is coming up this week, but since bub-hub has been sucked into the craziness of tax season, we decided to celebrate this weekend!
he planned a perfect day for me: manicures, lunch at adair kitchen, shopping, and the most yummy dinner i've ever had in my life.
we had dinner at a brenners on the bayou. it's a beautiful restaurant in a beautiful part of houston. it's tucked away in the trees, and you don't even feel like you are in the city.
such a perfect place to celebrate.
after dinner, bub-hub and i met up with some sweet friends at a 1920's themed cocktail bar. we had so much fun drinking fancy cocktails in beautiful glasses and dancing the night away! i think dancing with my friends is one of my favorite things ever. #embracetheawkwardness

sunday, raider and i enjoyed the sunshine and went for a walk at memorial park.
how can you stay inside on such a perfect day?

o, and did i mention he had the restaurant sing me happy birthday?
#soblessed

how do you like to celebrate your birthday?
do you like to dance like a fool?

Friday, March 1

high five for friday! :)

one. i admit it. i love this song. it has been on the radio every morning this week on my drive to work and it has been the perfect pick me up song. #noshame
two. the chick-fil-a table tents are interactive and i might have had a little two much fun with the fire-breathing cow.
three. bub-hub's grandmother gave us a box of handwritten recipies as a wedding gift and i have loved going through them.
four. raider is a fantastic road trip, i mean quick trip to the store, buddy.
five. bub hub and i went ice skating with a few friends and it was so fun! i always forget how fun ice skating can be. and yes. bub-hub pushed me down, because we are still in 9th grade. :)

how was your week?
