the last few days have been pretty awesome.
pardon me while i brag for a bit.
on friday, my parents came to h-town for the day!
since my dad was busy with work stuff, my mom and i got to hang out and shop and do girly things.
and we even took a little trip to the chocolate bar.
yummmmm!
friday night, my mom offered to make dinner instead of going out, but since we don't have a kitchen table yet(teeny-tiny apartment problems), i was a little nervous to have them over.
never argue with a mama.
we took a trip to central market and gathered everything we needed for mama to teach me how to make a fabulous dinner.
i'm so glad we stayed in and had a homemade dinner via floor picnic.
and now, i have another genuinely fantastic meal in my arsenal.
a non-hungry bub-hub is a happy bub-hub.
i have a fabulous set of parents.
they're pretty much the bomb[dot]com.
on saturday, my parents headed over to waco to cheer on the bears with my baby brother, and bryce and i headed to museum district day!
the city of houston hosted free admission to 18 museums in museum district. holla!
(hunger games style...)
bub-hub and i picked out two:
the museum of natural science (dinos for the win!)
and the weather museum.
after spending 2 lovely hours fighting the crowds and browsing the MNS, we were ready to mosey on down the road to the weather museum. just as we were walking out the doors, a little major downpour decided to stop us in our tracks.
houston sure knows how to rain.
we opted to head back to the apartment for pizza and movie night.
yayyyy!
there may have been a little puddle jumping splashing along the way.
i dare you to walk through a major downpour and not jump in a puddle.
sometimes, i get a little bummed that bub-hub and i are away from our families, but i know the Lord has us here for a reason, and we're having fun on our adventure.
but it sure does a heart good to have the family come and visit.
nothing beats hugs from mama and daddio.
how was your weekend??
Dinosaurs are my favorite. They should win everytime.

Oh, girl, I feel you. I lived in Houston for three years while I went to law school while my family (and my then-fiance's family) were all still up in Dallas. Visits from our families were the BEST! Here's hoping your time away from your family grows your marriage the way it did mine! :)
ReplyDelete(And holy cow... Houston CAN rain! I got caught in a tropical storm my first week there and my husband had to come rescue me!)
Looks like you had a really great weekend, despite the bad weather and lack of a kitchen table! ;)
ReplyDeleteSounds like you had a great weekend. Family time is the best!
ReplyDeleteHow far away are you from your parents??
ReplyDeletePS (random side note) I am in love with your hair. Gorgeous!!
So you live in Houston? My daughter and son in law are moving there the beginning of next year. I am going to forward this blog on to her☺ I love this weekend linky party...very new to this one.

I didn't know there was a weather museum there! Last time I was in town, I went to the Butterfly Center at the HMNS! I could sit in there all day (if it was a little less humid) :)
ReplyDeletemuseum district day sounds awesome!
ReplyDeleteI grew up in the Houston area and haven't been to half of the museums! Glad you guys got to take advantage of the free admission, but I bet it was crazy! I am so glad you stopped by my blog! You and yours are adorable! It's so fun finding more Texas bloggers!! New reader!

What a fun weekend! Love that your mama and you cooked a fabulous meal...your parents seem like the sweetest people ever! And I feel you on the being away from family :( it does stink at times but you are so right to think of it as a grand adventure!
ReplyDeleteSounds like y'all had such a fantastic time!!! :)
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear more about this dinner you and your mom made!
And i'll have to look into finding out if the museums around here do something similar, that is just too cool!
That food looks so good!

ReplyDeleteRainy days to me are museums days. :) Your weekend sounds just great!!!
ReplyDeleteSounds like an awesome weekend! I love me some family time too. We lived away from our families for a few years. It was hard, but it made our visits that much sweeter :)
ReplyDeleteOkay, I'm pretty sure that I need to find this chocolate bar you speak of. It sounds amazing! Is it a chain or just a Houston thing?
ReplyDeleteSo glad you linked up today! xoxo
What a great weekend! I love having family in town as well and isn't it nice when our mommas cook for us :) New follower too!
ReplyDeletewhat a neat offering with the museums- jealous!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! Nothing better than family visiting & a cozy pizza & movie night at home!
ReplyDeleteYou and your husband are so cute! That's great that they had a free museum day. What in the world is the weather museum? It's funny that the weather would keep you from visiting its own museum. :) Looks like you had a wonderful weekend. I hope your weekend started off well!
ReplyDeleteWe do Advocare too!!! ((saw your button)) And my cousin is on the Baylor baseball team. Waco is a cute town. :) Looks like you have wonderful parents, and a home cooked meal always warms the heart!!! Love your blog!! Looking forward to being your newest follower!!!
ReplyDeleteMy husband would love a weather museum! You were brave to go to a museum on a FREE day... my daughters and I did that a few years ago at the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago... probably should've just ponied up the cash on a different day!
ReplyDeleteI live apart from my family too- so I know it's hard. :(

Totally didn't know you are an H-town girl too! I agree, it is hard to not live in the same city as your family, but it makes their visits that much better!
